5 Ways Changing Your Posture and Increasing your Core Strength will Improve Your Life!

One of my favorite topics, POSTURE, will improve your exercise habits and your daily living.

Here are 5 ways posture improvement and increasing your core strength will change your life!

1. Look thinner: Look like you took of 5 pounds improving your posture.

2. Look younger: Look 5 years younger by saying straight and lifted with good posture.

3. Improve mood: Not only can standing and sitting with good posture make you feel more confident and powerful, it can also boost your happiness.

4. Feel confidant: A tall, upright posture exudes strength and confidence.

5. Better balance: Core strength and better posture will improve your physical and psychological balance

Being mindful and focusing on a few simple changes will make a big difference.

When it comes to having good posture, core strength is the key. Our core is made up of our abdominal muscles, back muscles and the muscles around the pelvis. Strong core muscles will improve your posture and most importantly make it easier and safer to do many physical activities.

I will be reminding you to engage your core muscles as they are an integral part of an effective workout and are protective in all tasks of daily living.

The reminder cues will include:

Imaging you are zipping up a zipper, drawing your belly button in towards your spine, lifting your sternum and pretending you can lock that zipper on a hook above your head.

Feel your neck long with your head floating on top - Your shoulders are pulled back and down

If you are sitting, rely on your spine and core for stability or use a pillow or the back of the chair if necessary to maintain good posture.

While standing, keep a neutral spine, without tucking or arching your back and maintain soft knees.
